Public Consultation

Why our technology is so dynamic in the public consultation environment

Holding a ‘public consultation’ is a tactically demanding process. How do you give your audience a means to voice their important opinions while making sure that you [the organizer] gather the required information to take appropriate action? You listen intently to your audience and through good preparation, you use our response technology to ask the questions you need answered. Response technology unmistakably allows the public consultation process to function more effectively.

This literature package pertains to the Public Consultation meetings that are being administered by Waterfront Toronto. Our interest regarding your Public Consultation meetings is derived from our involvement with the following parties: The City of Markham, Fleet Challenge Ontario - Public Consultation, and the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario - Policy Consultation. A brief outline of our involvement with these three groups follows.

The City of Markham

A Response Pad was handed to each participant attending the Public Consultation meeting. The participants were immediately enamored with the device they had in their hands. The meeting began with 10 important agenda questions. The questions were answered and the results were tabulated instantly, which allowed the meeting to resume. They then took advantage of our “on the fly” ability and populated questions as they became relevant.

Fleet Challenge

Fleet Challenge Ontario is a not-for-profit pilot program of the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance that helps fleet operators reduce their fuel consumption, operating costs and tailpipe emissions through sharing of modern fleet management techniques and proven best management practices. Here is a short testimonial from Director Roger Smith:

”Pleased” doesn’t adequately describe our high level of satisfaction with DOTS. We were delighted. I originally used your technology when I was at Toronto Hydro and was impressed back then with the way it empowered meeting attendees and kept everyone focused and engaged. Friday’s Public Consultation meeting was no exception. It continues to be an exceptional way to ensure that meetings of this type are as effective as possible. Thanks so much and I look forward to future collaboration with DOTS. I would be happy to be a reference for anyone considering using the DOTS system.

Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario Policy Consultation Conference

The PCPO Policy Consultation Conference used our clickers to build data pertinent to policy formation. The information gathered was related to the economy, rural issues, urban issues, and healthcare. They used it in four one hour sessions over a three day period. There were over 800 participants at the conference. President of the PCPO Ken Zeise is an advocate of our response technology
